Thinking about joining us for Monday Night Casual Commander but not sure what to expect? Whether you're brand new to Magic or just new to Commander—or you're a returning player curious about our vibe—this post will walk you through what the night looks like, how to jump in, and why it's become our favorite way to start the week.
The Basics
Location: The Bodega, 16 S Jackson St, Greencastle, IN 46135
Time: Every Monday from 5–9PM
Cost: Free to play! ($5 if you'd like pizza + a drink)
How the Night Works
5:00 PM – Doors Open
We'll be set up and ready to go! Come in, say hi, check out our inventory (we've got singles, booster packs, accessories, and Commander decks for sale), and get paired up for a game.
New to Commander? No worries! We have decks to borrow, and someone is always happy to help teach you how to play.
6:00 PM – Pizza Arrives + First Door Prize Drawing
Who doesn’t love pizza? For $5, you’ll get pizza and a drink (don't worry about being too hungry, we'll have plenty of pizza).
We also draw our first door prize at this time—and every hour after that at 7PM, 8PM, and 9PM!
Everyone who plays gets one free ticket into the door prize drawing.
🛒 You’ll earn an extra ticket for every $5 spent at the Storming Good Games table (cards, packs, accessories, etc.).
What If I've Never Been to a Casual Commander Night?
That’s okay—we built this night for you.
Casual Commander is meant to be fun, social, and low-pressure. There are no judges, no strict competitive decks, and no expectations. Games are usually 3–4 players, everyone starts with 40 life, and each deck is built around a legendary creature called a “Commander.” It’s a great format to try fun strategies, interact with new people, and make some wild plays.
We’ll help you get into a pod with others who match your experience level. Don’t have a deck? We’ll loan you one. Don’t know the rules? We’ll teach you.
